TRAINING

We are a network member of  the Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF), a nationally recognised counselling and training agency

Our programme is designed to offer students a route from an introduction to basic counselling skills to the point where they are able to practice as counsellors and apply for individual BACP Accreditation.  Each stage of the course leads to a nationally validated qualification.  As members of BACP we subscribe to its codes of ethics and practice.

Training as a counsellor is a major commitment involving time, money and personal exploration.  At Concern we want to provide trainees with a productive and valuable experience.  All trainees on the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling have their clinical placement at Concern.  Follow the links below to find out further details on courses.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Concern is committed to Equal Opportunities and welcomes everyone without discrimination of race, class, culture, gender, marital status, physical ability, age, religion or sexual orientation.  We are continuing to try to achieve a high standard in ensuring disabled access, but it should be noted that toilet facilities for wheelchair-bound students may currently present difficulties. Any disabled student should discuss this with the Training Co-ordinator at the earliest opportunity.

PROFESSIONAL COUNSELLING and CLINICAL TRAINING

Concern has many years experience of training counsellors and those who use counselling skills in their work.

As part of the Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, students receive supervision and support as they commence client work at the Centre. Students will be allocated clients by their supervisor.

All seminar leaders and group conductors on these courses are WPF approved.

TRAINING AND LEARNING FACILITIES

Concern operates in a very pleasant quiet building close to the centre of Ipswich.

All certificate and diploma training takes place at Concern.  Supervision and client work also takes place in the centre.  Trainee groups are usually limited to 12 people to optimise learning.  We have a specialist library, which is regularly updated.

The nearest public pay car parks are located 10 minutes walk from Concern, at Crown Street, Carr Street, Cox Lane and Foundation Street. Limited on-road parking is also available within a few minutes walk.  Unfortunately we do not have a car park.
